A major theft occurred at the residence of Mirzan Sepai, a zari trader in Dhulagarh Haji Saheb Para, Howrah, with an estimated Rs 15 lakh in cash stolen. The incident took place during a wedding ceremony in the family, where gold jewelry and cash were kept at the home. The culprits reportedly gained entry by breaking through the roof door and window, but managed to access the locked cupboard without apparent signs of forced entry. Sankrail police station is leading the investigation, with ACP South Arijit Pal Chaudhary visiting the scene for a detailed assessment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the thieves may have had access to the cupboard keys, raising suspicions of insider involvement.
